Embracing Your Unique Path to Financial Freedom
A few weeks ago, I did a Facebook Live making Pumpkin French Toast. I was excited to try a new recipe, and it turned out SO delicious! But, one of the first comments I got was, “That sounds disgusting.”
This comment immediately made me pause and question whether I should pull down the post. Was everyone else thinking it sounded gross, too?
And then it hit me – this is how it often is with life. We all make choices that not everyone will like, agree with, or understand. And that’s okay.
Don’t let the loud opinions of others dictate your decision-making.
I reflected on a time when Jesse and I made a decision after he graduated from law school to not buy a house. We kept renting, saving, and living on less than we were making to pay cash for our first house.
Many people thought we were making a mistake and didn’t understand why we chose to live so frugally. Despite the criticism, those counter-cultural choices laid the foundation for the financial freedom we enjoy today.
If you’re feeling misunderstood for making financial sacrifices or decisions that others don’t support, remember – it’s okay to go against the grain. Keep making those choices that align with your values and goals.
It’s okay if your path to financial freedom looks different from those around you.
Keep taking those baby steps, making those sacrifices, and following your unique journey. Others may not understand, but stay true to your path like enjoying a metaphorical Pumpkin French Toast – it’s ultimately rewarding, regardless of others’ opinions!
So, keep making and eating your metaphorical Pumpkin French Toast, knowing that it’s actually really delicious, despite what others may think!
