The Truth Behind the Deceptive Amazon Listings for Luis Elizondo’s Book

Excitement is brewing as the release of Luis Elizondo’s book, Imminent: Inside the Pentagon’s Hunt for UFOs, scheduled for August 20, approaches. Elizondo, the former head of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), has already sparked a buzz by announcing his book on social media. However, some eager readers who pre-ordered the book on Amazon have been met with disappointment as they received fake copies instead.

One Amazon customer shared their experience of receiving a book with a genuine cover but filled with blank pages. It turns out they were scammed by deceptive Amazon listings offering fake copies of Elizondo’s book under a different author name at a lower price.

Another user warned fellow readers about the existence of non-Elizondo versions of Imminent on Amazon and urged them to check the release date and author before making a purchase.

While Elizondo confirmed that he was the sole author of the book, the problem of scam book postings on Amazon is widespread. Mary Rasenberger, CEO of the Authors Guild, highlighted the issue of scam books plaguing Amazon for years, with AI-generated summaries flooding the platform and attempting to capitalize on major book releases.

Despite Amazon’s efforts to combat this problem by limiting the number of book uploads per seller, copyrighted books are still being used to train AI models, leading to legal battles like the one involving ChatGPT-maker OpenAI and authors like Sarah Silverman, Christopher Golden, and Richard Kadrey.

As anticipation for Elizondo’s book continues to grow, readers are advised to be cautious and double-check their sources when making purchases on Amazon to avoid falling victim to deceptive practices.
