Exciting news for exploration enthusiasts! The 2024 drill program at Lapon Canyon is set to kick off with a bang. The focus of the program will be on exploration drilling near the historical Lapon Canyon Mine, the “Central Zone”, and the newly discovered “Hot Spot Zone”. The plan is to extend known gold-bearing mineralized zones along trend and at depth, while also targeting new areas of mineralization that have not been previously tested.
One of the primary targets for the 2024 drill program is the “Hotspot Zone” at Lapon Canyon. This zone captured attention with a blind, high-grade, near-surface discovery in 2021. The Company will conduct grid-style drilling over the target area to test for extensions of the mineralized zone in all directions and to establish continuity with the mineralization of the “Central Zone”. The use of grid drilling with pads placed at 30m intervals will facilitate quick access and pad construction, despite the target being blind due to being covered by approximately 3 meters of loose colluvium.
In addition to drilling, surficial mapping and rock sampling will be carried out at Lapon Canyon to gather structural data surrounding the gold targets. This data collection aims to hone in on the structural controls of high-grade mineralization and the disseminated deposits enveloping them.
The Company has also enlisted the expertise of Serac Exploration, a mineral exploration consulting firm based in Vancouver, BC. Serac will manage and supervise the drilling database, geological mapping, and the production of a three-dimensional model of the Lapon Gold project, based on their initial interpretations of the historical data, which has already enhanced the planning of the 2024 drill program.
With previous drill hole intercepts indicating significant gold mineralization, Walker River is gearing up for definition, systematic, and exploration drilling at Lapon Canyon to further explore and extend known mineralization, including at depth. Ultimately, the data from the 2024 drill programs will pave the way for an initial NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource on the Project.
Michel David, President of Walker River, expressed excitement about the project’s potential and the contributions of Serac, stating, “We are very excited and encouraged by the past drill results which confirm the potential of the project. The arrival of Serac on the project will greatly aid in the acceleration of drilling, geological mapping, and understanding of the gold mineralization at the Lapon Gold Project.”
About the Lapon Gold Project
The Lapon Gold Project spans 147 claims in the Wassuk Range, within the Walker Lane shear zone in Nevada. It is easily accessible and includes multiple gold targets such as Lapon Canyon, Pikes Peak claims, Rattlesnake, and Range Front claims, offering a vast area for exploration and discovery.
Exciting times lie ahead for the Lapon Gold Project as the 2024 drill program unfolds, unlocking the potential of this promising area for gold exploration and mining.
