Unlocking the Truth Behind Disney’s Dream Key Pass Settlement
If you were one of the lucky individuals who purchased a Disney Dream Key pass between August 25 and October 25, 2021, you may be entitled to a piece of a $9.5 million settlement.
Disney recently settled a class action lawsuit filed in November 2021 in a California district court regarding their $1,400 Dream Key pass. This pass allowed customers to enjoy unlimited visits to Disneyland and California Adventures theme parks throughout the year.
The settlement website has confirmed that qualified class members started receiving their payments via check or digital transfer on June 14.

According to the plaintiff, Jenale Nielsen, Disney’s marketing of the Dream Key Pass was misleading. Despite the promise of no restrictions, she discovered numerous blackout dates, including all weekends in November 2021.
Nielsen felt deceived by Disney’s false advertising and decided to take legal action, leading to the recent settlement.

Despite Disney’s denial of any wrongdoing, Nielsen was awarded $5,000 as part of the settlement, with around 100,000 other affected individuals set to receive approximately $67.41 each from Disney.
Rising Costs in Disney World: Prices at Disney World have surged over the past decade, including significant increases in popular sweet treats.
For comparison, a standard Disneyland ticket typically ranges from $96 to $194 per day.
Following the settlement, Disney has made changes to its pass advertising. The Dream Key is no longer available for purchase, with the highest tier now being the Inspire Key, priced at $1,649 and subject to applicable pass blockout dates.
As of now, the Magic Key calendar shows open availability for almost all days in July, August, and September for Inspire Key holders.
