Another tragic incident has rocked the region as a gunman crossed from Jordan and killed three Israeli civilians at the Allenby Bridge border in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli security forces swiftly responded, eliminating the attacker.

This attack marks a somber milestone along the border with Jordan since the conflict initiated by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in southern Israel. The subsequent war in Gaza has heightened tensions in the area.

The targeted location was a commercial cargo area under Israeli jurisdiction where Jordanian trucks unload goods entering the West Bank. The Allenby Bridge, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, lies between Amman and Jerusalem near the Dead Sea.

According to the Israeli military, the assailant traveled in a truck and opened fire at the security forces stationed at the bridge, causing the loss of three innocent lives. Following the incident, Israel promptly closed all land border crossings with Jordan.

In response to the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the act of terrorism, calling it a “difficult day” and stressing the importance of maintaining vigilance against such threats.

Meanwhile, Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri praised the assailant’s actions, portraying them as a retaliation against Israeli aggression in Gaza. He hinted at the possibility of more attacks in the future.
