Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has granted clemency to 30 more individuals convicted of participating in protest activities, as reported by state news agency Belta on Wednesday.
According to human rights activists, approximately 1,400 individuals remain incarcerated in Belarus for expressing opposition to Lukashenko’s rule, which spans back to 1994.
The long-standing leader, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, had previously pardoned a group of 30 prisoners, including those who were ill or elderly, in the previous month.
