Calling all ice cream lovers! If you’ve purchased Breyers vanilla ice cream in the last eight years, you could be entitled to a cash payout. That’s right, Breyers has agreed to pay an $8.85 million settlement as part of a class-action lawsuit regarding its “Natural Vanilla” label. It was alleged that the ice cream contained vanilla flavors not sourced from the vanilla bean, which was deemed misleading.
Despite denying the claims, the defendants, Conopco, Inc. (the advertiser) and Unilever United States, Inc. (Breyer’s parent company), have agreed to the settlement. If you bought Breyers vanilla ice cream between April 21, 2016, and August 14, 2024, you may be eligible for a cash payment.
Wondering how to make a claim? You can do so online at this link or by mail by February 19, 2025. While proof of purchase isn’t necessary for qualification, consumers without a receipt will receive a maximum of $8 (or $1 per item purchased). For those with receipts, there’s no limit to the payout amount.
