### Rimfire Pacific Mining (ASX:RIM) Unveils Maiden Resource Estimates for Melrose and Murga North Scandium Prospects
Exploration company Rimfire Pacific Mining (ASX:RIM) recently announced exciting news regarding its Melrose and Murga North scandium prospects located in New South Wales, Australia. In a press release on Thursday, September 5, Rimfire disclosed that Melrose boasts indicated and inferred resources of 3 million tonnes at 240 parts per million scandium, while Murga North holds an inferred 21 million tonnes at 125 parts per million scandium.
“This declaration of maiden Scandium Mineral Resources for Melrose and Murga North marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of establishing a globally significant scandium resource inventory at Fifield,” stated Managing Director David Hutton.
Scandium, a rare earth element with significant potential in high-tech applications, is currently underutilized due to a lack of stable supply. Recognized as a critical mineral in Australia and other regions, the demand for scandium is expected to rise as its applications diversify and evolve.
While Melrose remains largely closed off, the Murga region presents an open opportunity for further exploration. Rimfire anticipates significant potential in an exploration target within the broader Murga area and plans to commence drilling in October to convert this target into a viable resource. Additionally, the company will initiate drilling to upgrade the Murga North resource and conduct further metallurgical testwork on mineralized material from Melrose.
Both Melrose and Murga North are situated in the Fifield District, known for hosting some of the world’s highest-grade scandium deposits. As the sole ASX-listed junior company focused on critical minerals in the area, Rimfire Pacific Mining is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for scandium.
In addition to Melrose and Murga North, the company has identified other promising scandium prospects, including Forest View and Currajong, located in proximity to the Murga intrusive complex. These prospects offer further opportunities for exploration and resource development.
