The Power of Confidence and Openness in Rational Thought

When it comes to publishing, teaching, inventing, imagining, or promoting, having the confidence to believe in ourselves is crucial. We need to trust that we have something valuable to offer, that we are on the right track in some way.

However, rational thought is a process that is built on theories, testing, and continuous improvement. We can never be completely certain of anything; all we have are the best explanations currently available to us.

Therefore, the real challenge lies in being able to confidently speak up while simultaneously remaining open and even eager to change our minds based on new information or data.

Having confidence without openness to change is futile, just as being open to new ideas without confidence in oneself can lead to stagnation. It is the combination of both that truly allows for growth and progress in rational thought.
