Meta Platforms has announced the expansion of its artificial intelligence chatbot, Meta AI, into 21 new markets in a bid to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT. With technology companies continuously enhancing their AI chatbots to attract more users, Meta is making sure its chatbot remains competitive and accessible globally.

Currently boasting nearly 500 million monthly active users, Meta AI will now be available in the UK, Brazil, and numerous countries in Latin America and Asia starting today. In addition, the chatbot will support languages like Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese, catering to a diverse user base.

Following the initial rollout, Meta plans to expand Meta AI’s availability to a total of 43 countries and introduce a dozen languages, setting the stage for it to become the most popular AI assistant by the end of 2024.

Although the latest expansion of Meta AI does not include the new character voices promised by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the company’s annual Connect conference, the chatbot will still be a key feature for users worldwide. The new voices will be introduced on a separate timeline.

In addition to the global expansion, Meta AI will also be integrated into Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the UK and Australia, enhancing the user experience and accessibility of the chatbot.
